My favourite vintage designers part 1: Pierre Cardin

The one, the only – my favourite designer of all times is avant-garde mastermind Pierre Cardin. One of the things I really like about Cardin was that he completely ignored the female form – a rare and unique standpoint at the time. With an apprenticeship as a tailor in hand, he went on to work with (another favourite designer of mine) Elsa Schiparelli – and then became head of Diors tailleure atelier. He started his own house in 1950. His use of color and geometric shapes has provided me with so much inspiration.

I made a dress in march from a Pierre Cardin pattern, which I’m very fond of.
