Vintage sewing patterns are a vital part of my sewing these days. I try to spend as much time as possible learning to sew, it’s so much fun! Ever since I discovered the first vintage sewing pattern, I realised that the true thrill was in fact the journey through time.
I envisioned a fab 60’s girl by her sewing machine making awesome clothes – and now I could put myself in her place! My mother told me that it was very common to make clothes instead of buying them when she grew up in the 50s and 60’s. She told me it was a liberty and a luxury when the first ready to wear clothes were available at a reasonable price. Still, most vintage sewing patterns recommend a poly-blend for all sorts of garments, due to the fact that it was an amazing invention in the 60’s. I prefer to exchange this with quality materials.
My sweet mother gave me a super pro steam iron and a gift card to the local fabric shop for christmas. We went shopping during christmas break and found some pretty amazing fabrics. I’m going to use them for some of these patterns.
I’m working on some exiting pieces at the moment, and I’ve finished a blouse and previously my Pierre Cardin dress. Stay tuned for more creations!
