Finally it’s could enough to pull out the vintage Lilli Ann 17th of may suit!
Time for a winter outfit!
Every year it’s equally exciting to uncover my winter wardrobe again. Due to lack of space I pack away all my woolens in summer, and all of my breezy summer dresses come winter. As exciting as the unpacking of winter garments may be, it was quite a shock to me that moths had chewed away on most of my 100% virgin wool vintage dresses. Needless to say, I have quite a mending job in front of me. Whilst I mended some of my favourite sweaters I did realise that the mending process was strangely soothing. To realise that I love a garment so much I’d invest hours in mending it maybe? Or the joy of seeing an old treasured gem of a garment come to life again? I think it’s important to treat your belongings well. Your leather boots need a good rubdown with shoe cream, a well worn wool coat needs to get a button or two replaced or maybe you need to change a broken zipper. These days I feel like we are all about acquiring new things, constantly! I believe in the ground rule of; buy anything you’d like – as long as you love it, and the quality of the garment is high enough to mend it. Just a little something I reflected on lately.
